RAWALPINDI, January 08, (Asia Free Press): British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner met Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ), a statement issued by Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army said.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, situation including Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed, said ISPR in a statement.

On the occasion, the Army Chief said, “It’s imperative for regional peace and stability that international community assist Afghanistan to avert humanitarian crisis.”

According to the military’s media wing, in the meeting, the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace, particularly in the Afghan situation.

The world has eyes on the Taliban-led Afghanistan, where humanitarian crisis emerged after the US government froze its $10 billion assets in mid-August 2021.

Pakistan has played a vital role to normalize situations in terrorism-hit Afghanistan, where Pakistan arranged the 17th extraordinary moot of OIC-CFMs on Afghanistan, which concluded on December 19, 2021, with a tremendous outcome.
