Islamabad, June 12: Second meeting of the COMSTECH Scientific Advisory Council held at COMSTECH Secretariat on Monday. The Coordinator General COMSTECH, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary chaired the meeting. He welcomed the participants of the meeting and presented a detailed report on the COMSTECH programs and achievements to the council. The council is comprised of leading STI experts and practitioners.
The President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi had a meeting with the members of COMSTECH Scientific Advisory Council at the president secretariat and discussed the problems being faced by the Ummah and the prospective solutions that can be provided through the application of science, technology and innovation through the platform of COMSTECH. The President of Pakistan is the Chairman of COMSTECH.
The second meeting was attended by the Ambassador Askar Mussinov, Assistant Secretary General (S&T) OIC General Secretariat, Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Former, Coordinator General COMSTECH, Chairman, HEC and Federal Minister for S&T, Pakistan, Tan Sri Dr. Zakri bin Abdul Hamid, Chairman of Atri Advisory, member of the Islamic Development Bank scientific advisory board, Prof. Dr. Hayat S. Sindi, founder and CEO of iQ Institute, and goodwill ambassador at UNESCO for STEM, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud M. Sakr, President of academy of scientific research and technology, Prof. Dr. Ousmane Kane, former Director General of the institute of food technology, Prof. Abdelkader Djeflat, Chairman, the Maghtech Network, Dr. Jauad El-Kharraz, Executive Director, regional center for renewable energy and energy efficiency, Prof. Dr. Samia Satti Osman Mohamed Nour, professor of economics, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of the scientific and technological research council of Turkiye.
All the participating experts gave comprehensive presentations on the current challenges being faced by the OIC member states with the practical recommendations to meet these challenges through starting the new initiatives at the COMSTECH platform. The ten year strategic STI plan of COMSTECH was reviewed by the participants and gave comprehensive recommendations on it.
The objective of this meeting was to share information on variety of issues related to science, technology and innovation, to review the STI plan of COMSTECH, and update the advisory council about the OIC-15 dialogue platform and the outcomes of the first ministerial meeting of OIC-15.
