Islamabad: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir chapter have praised the diaspora’s tireless efforts in raising global awareness about the Kashmir cause.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a function organized by APHC-AJK at Kashmir House Islamabad, today, the leaders acknowledged the diaspora’s crucial role in advocating for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding dispute.
APHC-AJK convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar chaired the event. The Hurriyat leaders emphasized the importance of unity among the Kashmiri diaspora and the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They stressed the need for a shared agenda to address the Kashmir dispute and recognize the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.
Speakers at the event highlighted the urgent need for a new strategy to address the Kashmir dispute, given the ongoing military siege, prolonged detention of thousands of Kashmiris, including top Hurriyat leaders, journalists, scholars, youth, and human rights activists.
They called upon the APHC, its AJK chapter, and the diaspora to develop a comprehensive framework to mobilize global support and sympathy for the oppressed Kashmiri people. This framework aims to expose Indian state terrorism, its hegemonic designs, and the BJP’s anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim agendas. Furthermore, it seeks to promote a peaceful resolution, ensure accountability for human rights violations, and support the well-being and dignity of the Kashmiri people who have been victims of the dispute for over seven decades.
Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Ghalib Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed Qureshi, Raja Najbat Hussain, Raja Faheem Kayani, Zafar Qureshi, Sardar Zulfiqar and Muzammil Thakur were among the speakers. They urged the international community, including the UN, OIC, and EU, to break their silence and support a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
