ISLAMABAD, Jan 05, (Asia Free Press): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LOC) and the world-wide, on Wednesday, observed the right to self-determination day to remind its own resolutions to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Kashmir issue.

On Jan 05, 1949, the United Nations Commission on India and Pakistan (UNCIP), under the UNSC, adopted the resolution that guarantees a free and fair plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir to enable the Kashmiri people to realise their right to self-determination.

The day is being marked by various activities, including rallies, seminars and conferences across the world to remind the UN that it must implement its relevant resolutions to settle the Kashmir dispute to save the Kashmiris from the Indian brutalities and atrocities.

The top leadership of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir have also expressed their positive views for the oppressed Kashmiris on the eve of their right to self-determination day.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran, in his statement, said that with the presence of 900,000 troops, India had turned the occupied territory into the largest open-air prison and the most militarised zone in the world.

“Three generations of Kashmiris have waited for the world community and the United Nations to honour their solemn commitments made to Kashmiris,” Khan said while adding that Indian atrocities in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) continued unabated, but the Kashmiris stood steadfast against them.

President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, in his message on the right to self-determination day, has said no Indian attempt would succeed in misleading the international community and glossing over India’sIndia’s state-terrorism being perpetrated with shameless impunity in IOJK.

In his said message, he added that Pakistan calls upon the international community to hold India accountable for the egregious human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and played its role in a peaceful and durable resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Pakistani National Security Advisor (NSA) Dr Moeed Yusuf, in a tweet in connection with the Kashmiris Right to Self-Determination Day, said the promise of a plebiscite in Kashmir remained unfulfilled, and India continued its rouge behaviour against innocent Kashmiris.

Dr Moeed said, “No ethical, moral, or legal compass allows what is happening in IIOJK. Yet, the world is silent. Truly a shame.”

“Kashmiris can always count on Pakistan for our continued full and unwavering support. The just cause is bound to win ultimately,” he further asserted.

On the eve of the right to self-determination day, the President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, said that the right to self-determination is the fundamental and basic right of the people of Kashmir.

Niazi reaffirmed that it is high time to give Kashmiris the “Right of self-determination”, an internationally acclaimed right.

“The people of Pakistan and AJK would not be set aside to support Oppressed Kashmiris politically, Socially and diplomatically”, AJK President further reassured.
In his message, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, Senior Minister of AJK, said the basic purpose of the observing day is to realise UNSC to look upon its resolution, in which he promised about the right to self-determination Kashmiris.

“It was claimed by UN on Jan 05, 1949 to give the right of self-determination to Kashmiris to cast their vote either to India or Pakistan for further adjustment “, Sardar Tanveer claimed in his message.
