KABUL(BNA): A total of 1,469 Afghan families returned home from Pakistan and Iran on Sunday, according to the High Commission for Refugee Affairs.
The Commission’s Secretariat reported that on June 22, 66 families entered Afghanistan via the Torkham border, with 319 individuals registered and processed through biometric verification. Financial assistance totaling 560,000 Afghanis was distributed among 70 families at Torkham.
Additionally, 44 families (201 people) were transported from Torkham to their home provinces, receiving 177,200 Afghanis to cover travel expenses.
On the same day, 70 families (380 individuals) arrived through the Spin Boldak crossing, where 69 families received a total of 596,000 Afghanis in aid.
From Iran, 268 families comprising 1,297 people crossed into Nimroz province via the Silk Bridge. The report noted that 1,182 additional individuals also returned through this route, and 255 families received a combined 2,132,000 Afghanis in assistance.
Two more families returned via the Angur Ada border in Paktika province.
In western Afghanistan, the Islam Qala border in Herat province saw the return and registration of 1,063 families (4,282 individuals), with 1,034 families receiving a total of 8,294,000 Afghanis in aid.
The statement also noted that 62 families (339 individuals) were relocated from Kabul to various provinces, receiving 154,800 Afghanis for travel costs.
The Commission reported that, in addition to financial and logistical support, 537 SIM cards were distributed to returnees, and families received orientation on registration, relocation, financial aid, temporary accommodation, and topics such as national identity, Islamic values, education, and resilience during reintegration.
