KABUL: The death toll from Saturday’s earthquake in Herat has risen to 500 and hundreds of others have been injured, said the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
The medical and volunteer teams of the ARCS have been dispatched to the site, ARCS added.
Local officials say that rescue operations have started and the number of victims may increase.
On early Saturday a Magnitude of 6.4 earthquake jolted 12 villages in Zinda Jan and Ghorian districts of Herat and destroyed residential houses.
