Foreign Ministry spokesman says Nicholas Burns remarks are full of the cold war and zero-sum mentality
BEIJING, Oct. 21, (Asia Free Press): China on Thursday slammed US President Joe Biden’s nominee to be Washington’s envoy for Beijing remarks and said Nicholas Burns statement was “full of cold war and zero-sum mentality”.
During the routine briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin opposed Nicholas Burns’ remarks and said they were full of the cold war and zero-sum mentality.
On Wednesday, during his Senate confirmation hearing, Burns took a tough line on dealings with China and said “genocide in Xinjiang,” abuses in Tibet, and bullying of Taiwan must stop.
“We urge Burns to have an objective understanding of China’s actual situation, view China’s development and China-US relations in a rational way and never underestimate the strong determination of the Chinese people to defend their rights,” state-run Global Times quoted Wang Wenbin as saying.
