Moscow says conventional, nuclear forces need to be combat-ready
MOSCOW, Nov 24 (Asia Free Press): Russia launched military drills on Wednesday in the Black Sea, south of Ukraine, according to media report.
Moscow said that increased NATO action near its borders has resulted in sharpening its conventional and nuclear forces’ battle preparedness, Reuters reported.
Ukraine, a US ally, is concerned that Russia is preparing for an attack after Moscow conducted military training near the Belarus border.
Since the previous several weeks of tension, there has been an upsurge in military activity on both sides of the Ukraine-Russia border.
The US and NATO are supporting Ukraine in ways that Moscow regards as provocative, including military manoeuvres in the Black Sea this month and the transfer of US patrol boats.
Attacking Ukraine would be “a grave mistake from Russia”, Liz Truss, the British Foreign Secretary, warned.
