WASHINGTON, Dec 23, (Asia Free Press): United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in his recent tweet that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Extraordinary session on Afghanistan, which was concluded in Islamabad, Pakistan, last Sunday was a prime example of our collective determination and action to help those most in-need like Afghanistan.
In another tweet on the social media platform, he said the U.S. is working tirelessly with the international community to facilitate the flow of humanitarian assistance and other essential support to the people of Afghanistan.
Tom West, U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, expressed intentions to work with humanitarian groups and find mechanisms to deliver aid.
The OIC session was successful as the delegates agreed to establish a Humanitarian Trust Fund (HTF) and food security programme for Taliban-led Afghanistan to tackle the current humanitarian and other crises in the country.
They also appointed a special representative of OIC to Afghanistan to engage with the international community to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid into Afghanistan.
After a successful extraordinary meet on Afghanistan, the world leaders, government functionaries, diplomats and analysts all are praising Pakistan for its tremendous efforts towards Afghanistan by saying the 57-member Muslim states’ body as a milestone achievement for Pakistan which always manifested its commitment to a stable Afghanistan besides recognition of its stance.
