The world is witnessing the atrocities inflicted by the Indian establishment on its minorities following the barbaric ideology of Hindutva. The current Indian leadership is filled with an extremist hate, visible from the onslaught against Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits and other minorities in the country. So much is Hindutva ideology engrained in Indian strategic culture that even Indian military leadership is deeply involved in furthering political agenda of BJP government. One such character is the current Indian Chief of Army Staff and the acting Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, who has proven to be a fiendish personality since he assumed his office as the Chief of the Indian Army.
There have been many incidents linked with the Indian Army Chief that make him a dubious entity in the ranks of Indian military and political leadership. The mysteriously fatal crash of General Bipin Rawat is one such serious event to investigate. Such an unusual event in which the Chief of the Defense Staff of India gets killed is not something to be overlooked. The findings after the complete inquiry of the incident submitted in the tri-services court put the whole blame on the dead pilot, which is not less than a cause of serious concern. How is it possible that the pilot and its helicopter designated to carry the most senior military official of the country was flawed?
General MM Naravane is the person most benefitted after the killing of General Bipin Rawat, who has become the Chairman of the Chief of Staff Committee soon after the death of the former as otherwise, he was to retire by the end of this year. A criticizing statement was given by General Bipin Rawat on the leadership of India in which he pointed out the defective actions taken by Indian leaders to spread discord among the masses in India on citizenship law. He also brought All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) into the national focus and linked its increasing influence in the country with the influx of Bangladeshi migrants. Indirectly refuting the statements of General Bipin Rawat, General MM Naravane hurled the slogan of “Equality in India” that clearly indicated that General Naravane wanted himself to be highlighted in front of the general public. General Naravane was the Army Chief at the time of the then CDS General Bipin’s helicopter crash so he should have been included in the investigation. However, he has been kept out of any investigations purposefully. Being the Chairman of the Chief of Staff Committee he must be inquired on the poor proceeding of the investigation of the aforementioned helicopter crash.
During the Chinese aggression at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) that brought international embarrassment to India, General MM Naravane was the officer commanding. Besides issuing some retaliatory statements, there was a clear lack of any on-ground response at that time from General Naravane, whose military acumen at the best can be described as below average.
It was heartening to see that despite facing humiliation and embarrassment at the hands of the Chinese military, he managed to not only survive as COAS but also shrewdly got a promotion while serving for political objectives of BJP government.
Recently, General Naravane issued an insensitive statement on the controversial Lipulekh road that undermined 40 battalions of Nepalis in the Indian Army. The statement blamed Nepal that its objection on the road is at the behest of someone else, constructing a discord in the lines of the Indian Army. As the honorary General of Nepal’s Army, he damaged his own image with such a bizarre statement.
These facts make it clear that General MM Naravane has some hidden objectives to accomplish by constructing a surreal farrago with his dubious actions. Power is something desired by everyone but using strategic legerdemain to attain more and more power while sabotaging fellow leaders is a soiled approach that would not only vandalize the national integration but can also put regional peace and stability at stake.
