OIC has longstanding support for the right of self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Islamabad, Nov 7, (Asia Free Press): Yousef Aldobeay, the special envoy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jammu and Kashmir is on a six-day visit to Pakistan, where he said on Sunday that OIC would continue to support Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

He spoke with the representatives of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Pakistan chapter during a meeting held in Islamabad.

The special envoy reaffirmed OIC’s support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people. He expressed complete solidarity with the valiant Kashmiri people.

He said OIC has longstanding support for the right of self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Earlier in September, the foreign ministers of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir extended the support to Kashmiris in a joint communique during a meeting on the side-lines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York

The envoy is scheduled to visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir after which he would prepare and present a report during the next ministerial meeting of the OIC, on the situation in the region.

Aldobeay during his visit will get a first-hand account of the gravity of the situation on the ground in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control.

Yousef Aldobeay is visiting Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the second time, his first visit to Azad Kashmir last year was beneficial as during it he had the opportunity to meet the Kashmiri leadership.

APHC delegation members Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Faiz Naqshbandi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen and Altaf Wani met the OIC special envoy.

Sheikh Mateen, Special representative of Masarat Alam, Chairman APHC while talking to Asia Free press said that the APHC delegation thanked the special envoy for OIC’s steadfast support to the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Mateen further said that “We apprised the special envoy of the grave human rights and humanitarian situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu Kashmir (IOJK). We also stressed that following its illegal actions of 5 August 2019, India is now taking steps to disenfranchise the Kashmiri people and to turn the IIOJK into a Hindu dominated territory,”

“Kashmir, the paradise on earth has become hell due to the worst human rights abuses perpetrated by India. The war criminals involved in heinous crimes are being awarded rather than prosecuted by fascist India,” he added.

The Kashmiri delegation affirmed that no amount of suppression by the Indian occupation forces can subdue the resolute spirit of the Kashmiri people to free themselves from the yoke of Indian occupation.
