JAKARATA, May 23 – President Ebrahim Raisi of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived at Jakarta airport, accepting an official invitation from Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo. The purpose of Raisi’s two-day visit to Indonesia is to enhance economic and political cooperation with Asian nations.
It has been 17 years since the last official bilateral visit between the presidents of Iran and Indonesia.
Prior to departing from Tehran on Monday evening, President Raisi expressed his views to reporters at Mehrabad Airport, emphasizing the importance of the economic and commercial relationship between the two countries. He deemed the current level of relations unacceptable and emphasized the need for improvement.
President Raisi further announced that during his visit, both nations will sign memorandums of understanding encompassing various sectors such as economics, commerce, culture, customs, and health.
