SRINAGAR, Feb 27 (AsiaFreePress): Jammu and Kashmir police Saturday arrested journalist Fahad Shah in another case hours after a special court granted interim bail to him in an Unlawful Act registered at police station Pulwama.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that Fahad Shah was arrested in a case under FIR no 06-2021 registered against him at police station Imam Sahib in southern Shopian district.
Fahad’s counsel, Advocate Umair Ronga, earlier tweeted “The majesty of law has been upheld, the Special Court designated under the NIA act admitted @pzfahad to interim bail. The administration couldn’t dominate maliciously while the judiciary rescued him courageously. Thank you for the support from every corner and everyone.”
Fahad, who is the editor of an online and weeky print of The Kashmir Walla, was arrested by police earlier this month in FIR No. 19/2022 registered by Pulwama police under 13 Unlawful Activities of which interim bail was granted by the special court on Saturday.
On February 5, J&K Police had said that Fahad was “wanted” in three cases for “glorifying” militancy and spreading “fake news”.
“Fahad Shah is wanted in 3 cases for glorifying terrorism, spreading fake news & inciting general public for creating L&O [Law & Order] situations: FIR No. 70/2020 of PS Safakadal Srinagar, FIR No. 06/2021 of PS Imam sahib, Shopian & FIR No. 19/2022 of PS Pulwama,” police had said in a tweet.
