Islamabad — Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, paid a special visit to the central office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (AJK chapter) to offer heartfelt condolences on the passing of the young son of APHC General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah.
He was accompanied by Dr. Inam-ul-Haq, GTV News Director Syed Qayyum Bukhari, senior analyst Khawaja Abdul Mateen and others. During the visit, he held a detailed meeting with APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah, and other Hurriyat leaders to discuss the current state of the Kashmir freedom movement, shifting regional political dynamics, global response requirements, and the need for strengthening the movement’s narrative.
The primary purpose of the visit was to express sympathy and solidarity with Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah over the tragic loss of his son. Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq conveyed deep sorrow, stating that the tragedy was not just a personal loss but a shared grief for the entire Kashmiri movement and society. He described Advocate Pervez Ahmed as a principled and steadfast leader whose intellectual and political contributions are a valuable asset to the Kashmiri nation. He prayed for the departed soul and for patience and strength for the bereaved family, assuring full support during this difficult period.
Discussions were also held on the challenges facing the Kashmir freedom movement, including India’s intensifying state repression, demographic engineering efforts, human rights violations, and the responsibilities of the international community. Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq reaffirmed that Kashmir is a recognised international dispute and cannot be reduced to an internal matter of India. He stressed the importance of unity within the Kashmiri leadership, strategic coordination, and a strong, collective narrative, noting that the freedom struggle is a national cause rooted in sacrifice, principles, and resolve.
APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi appreciated the former Prime Minister’s efforts, acknowledging the practical steps he took for the Kashmir cause during his tenure and the voice he raised globally. He said that Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq’s gesture of condolence at this sensitive moment reflects moral responsibility and sends a clear message of unity within the movement.
