As many as 14 people were killed while over 150 were injured after a dust storm, accompanied by heavy rain, lashed different districts of Sindh and other parts of the country on Tuesday night, blowing away signboards, solar panels, transformers, electric wires and trees.

As many as 10 people were killed and 70 were injured when dust storm buffeted Nawab Shah and its outskirts, prompting the authorities to announce emergency at Peoples Medical College Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdus Sammad Nizamani said that severe damage was caused to the roofs of several houses and solar panels installed on them. “Similarly, signboards were blown away and several feeders tripped,” he elaborated.

Some of the the deceased were identified as Umair Abbasi, Afzal Palli, Chanesar Mehr.

Similarly, over a dozen people were injured in Khairpur Nathan Shah.

Two children and a woman were injured in Rehmatullah Colony of Khairpur Nathan Shah in an incident of roof collapse.

They were shifted to a hospital in a critical condition.

A man named Khuda Bux Laghari was seriously injured after wall of his house collapsed in a suburban village of Dau Dau Laghari.

Strong winds also resulted in the suspension of power supply to different localities of the city.

Over 100 people were injured in different incidents in Dadu, while power supply to Larkana was suspended after a supply tower came crashing down.

Likewise, 24 were injured in Bannu in incidents of roof and wall collapse.

Labourer dies in Faisalabad

In Khurrianwala near Faisalabad, a labourer died after the roof an under-construction shade being built for animals came crashing down. 

The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Shehbaz.

Student killed near Mirpur, AJK

A 13-year-old student died in Chakwari area near Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir after he was struck by lightning.

Aryan Tanveer, the deceased, was a student of class sixth.

According to reports, Aryan was playing cricket along with his friends when he was struck by lightning.

He lost his consciousness and was immediately taken to a hospital by his family and residents of the area.

Doctors tried to revive him, but in vain.

Two die, 31 injured in KP

On the other hand, according to a report compiled by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), two people were killed while 31 were injured in incidents of roof and wall collapse in KP.

The incidents took place in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Bannu.
