KABUL (BNA): To strengthen educational ties between the two neighboring countries, the government of Uzbekistan has begun construction on a large religious school in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province.
The foundation stone for the “Imam Bukhari Khair-ul-Madrasah Great School” was laid this week in the New Town area of Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial capital.
The religious school, which will be built on 60 jeribs (approximately 30 acres) of land, will be constructed under the supervision of the Uzbek Ministry of Construction at a cost of $6 million, as revealed by Farkat Nazarov, the Uzbekistan Consul General in Mazar-e-Sharif.
The project is expected to be completed within one year, and the school is anticipated to provide thousands of students with education in Islamic sciences.
