Imran Khan says he takes decision after detail meetings with Tajikistan president
ISLAMABAD, September,18 (Asia Free Press) : Pakistan Prime Minister on Saturday announced to hold dialogue with Afghan Taliban to form an inclusive government in Kabul.
“After mtgs in Dushanbe with leaders of Afghanistan’s neighbours & especially a lengthy discussion with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, I have initiated a dialogue with the Taliban for an inclusive Afghan govt to include Tajiks, Hazaras & Uzbeks,” Khan tweeted.
“After 40 years of conflict, this inclusivity will ensure peace & a stable Afghanistan, which is in the interest not only of Afghanistan but the region as well,” he added.
On Friday Khan while addressing SCO meeting on Afghanistan at Dushanbe, urged the international community to engage with new Afghan government.
“Abandoning Afghanistan could take us back to an unstable situation resulting in civil strife, negative spill-over effect on neighboring countries, outflow of refugees, rise in terrorist incidents, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime,” Khan said.
“Engagement therefore, in our view, is the only way forward.”
He urged that the international community should must approach the new reality in Afghanistan with a new perspective, based on a realistic assessment and pragmatic approach.
“At the same time, attempts to demonize the Taliban and fuel internal tensions should be rejected.
Such a myopic and unwise approach being adopted by some will only compound the challenges, not resolve them,” Khan said.
Pakistan currently playing leading role to build international consensus on Afghanistan and urging the world to help Afghan people as the country’s moving for humanitarian crisis.
The US and its allies who destroyed Afghanistan during last 20 years now abandoned the million Afghans in trouble.
While Washington also frozen over $9 billion assets of Afghan government despite humanitarian crisis in the country.
“The international community must reach out to reaffirm their support and solidarity with the Afghan people at this critical juncture,” Khan said and adding to unfreeze the Afghanistan’s frozen assets that could be used for the welfare of the Afghan people will also be a step in the right direction.
