Beijing, January 04 (Asia Free Press): Chen Xizhong, a Visiting Professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law and a former Defence Attache in South Asian countries, said Tuesday, Pakistan under the leadership of Imran Khan, had achieved historic milestones on the diplomatic front, not only has Pakistan enhanced its international status, but also have made great contributions to the maintenance of international and regional peace.

Xizhong asserted in an article that Pakistan has achieved a diplomatic transformation, from geopolitics to geo-economics, focusing on geo-economics while leveraging its geopolitical significance.

This has created favourable conditions for Pakistan’s integration into the global economy, a significant increase in commodity exports, a continuous inflow of foreign capital into Pakistan, and the promotion of national economic development, enhancing Pakistan’s strong and ability to withstand various risks, reported APP.

Another notable feature, which the Chinese professor mentioned in his article, is that while constantly consolidating and developing traditional friendly and cooperative relations with China, Pakistan has actively interacted with Russia and significant development has taken place in bilateral relations.

Pakistan and Russia continue to deepen their cooperation in economics, energy, defence, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and information and cyber security, the positive development of the situation in Afghanistan, and the maintenance of regional peace and stability, it mentioned.

Prof. Cheng considers that, as an important country in the region, Pakistan has made two outstanding diplomatic contributions in the past year. First, it has safeguarded the authority of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and deeply exposed the violations of human rights by the regional power on various international occasions. Secondly, as the most important close neighbour, Pakistan has played an irreplaceable role in the Afghan issue.

In general, despite the ongoing troubles caused by regional powers and the complete withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the regional situation has remained peaceful and stable in the past year, and Pakistan has made significant contributions to this end, he concluded in his article.
