GHAZNI(BNA): The Department Vice and Virtue in Ghazni province intervened to stop the forced marriage of a widowed woman, reportedly defusing a growing dispute between two families.

In a statement issued to Bakhtar News Agency, provincial officials said they acted swiftly after learning that a family in Ghazni city was attempting to arrange a marriage without the woman’s consent.

“On investigation, our officers were able to halt the forced marriage and mediate a peaceful resolution to the conflict between the two families,” the statement read.

Officials praised the outcome, emphasizing that protecting Islamic values — including consent in marriage — is central to their mission. “We will continue our efforts to uphold Islamic principles and social justice within the community,” the department said.
