State government displaced over 2,000 people, killed two in clashes with police in Assam province.

NEW DELHI, Sep 24 (Asia Free Press): Indian government demolished over 1,000 houses of Muslims including three mosques in Assam province, according to local media.

The Hindu-nationalists BJP government has launched an operation in the Gorukhuti in Dhalpur area of Darrang district on Thursday to formally evacuated over 2,000 Muslims from two villages that the state government termed “illegal encroachments”.

At least two people were killed during clashes with police, the local online News 9 reported.
During operation over 2,000 people were rendered homeless while over 1,000 houses destroyed including Muslims religious places in the two villages.

Local MLA Ashraful Hussain strongly condemned the brutal act of local administration and termed it “terror force of fascist ”

“‘Terror Force’ of fascist, communal & bigoted Govt. shooting at its own citizens. Also, who is the person with camera? Someone from our ‘Great Media’ orgs?

The appeal of these villagers, against eviction, is pending in the High Court. Couldn’t the Govt wait till court order?,” Hussain tweeted while sharing a video that showed Police brutally torturing and killed a Muslim in the area.

A video of Thursday’s clash, shared widely on social media, shows multiple police personnel and an anonymous cameraperson in plainclothes brutally thrashing and kicking a protester, who later reported died.

The state Hindu nationalist Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced to continue its actions against the local minorities and said “The eviction drive will continue.”

“The police were given a task to evict the encroachers and they were carrying out their work when they were attacked by people with stones and sharp weapons. There was firing from the police,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was quoted as saying by
