BEIJING, Sep 30 (Asia Free Press): China on Thursday urged the United States to leave empty slogans and come up with realistic plan for dialogue with North Korea, state-run media said.
The foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said that North Korean justified and reasonable concerns need to be seriously addressed.
“Under the current circumstances, the key to breaking the deadlock on the Korean Peninsula and restarting dialogue is that North Korea’s justified and reasonable concerns should be taken seriously and addressed,” the Global Times quoted Hua as told reporters during routine press briefing.
“The US should not fall back on empty slogans calling for dialogue, but should demonstrate sincerity and come up with a realistic dialogue proposal,” Hua said.
On Wednesday North Korean leader Kim Jong-un criticised the Washington and said he didn’t felt any change in the US military “hostile policy” toward his country.
“As the past eight-month course after the appearance of the new US Administration clearly showed, there is no change in the US military threat to and hostile policy toward us at all, and instead, their expressions and methods get more cunning,” Kim said while addressing a high level official meeting.
“Now the United States advocates “diplomatic involvement” and “dialogue without precondition”. But it is, to all intents and purposes, no more than a show to cover up their hostile acts and a prolongation of their hostile policy pursued by the successive US Administrations,” Korean leader added.
China while supported the North Korean concerns said the reversible provisions of North Korea-related UN Security Council resolutions should be activated as soon as possible and necessary adjustments should be made to the existing sanctions, especially those concerning the humanitarian and livelihood of North Korea.
“This will help restart peninsula dialogue and maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula,” Hua said.
“As a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula, China always supports the two Koreas to improve relations and advance reconciliation and cooperation through dialogue and consultation. We hope relevant measures will play a positive role in improving and developing North-South relations,” Hua explained.
