KABUL(BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced the successful release of an Afghan Mujahid, Khan Mohammad, from a U.S. prison.

In a press release, the ministry highlighted the long and fruitful negotiations between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United States.

Khan Mohammad had been serving a life sentence in California after being arrested in Nangarhar nearly two decades ago.

The Islamic Emirate expressed appreciation to Qatar for its facilitative role in the negotiations and characterized the exchange as a significant example of resolving issues through dialogue.
