TASHKENT, Jan 19 (Asia Free Press): A fresh round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan took place in Tashkent, according to local media.
Deputy Foreign Minister Berdiniyaz Myatiev led the delegation of Turkmenistan, and Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov led the delegation of Uzbekistan, AKI Press reported.
During the inter-ministerial consultations, the delegations discussed the development of Turkmen-Uzbek bilateral relations, relevant aspects of further partnership in commercial and economic spheres, where there is substantial potential for joint work and expansion of regulatory framework between two states.
Stating the positive experience of interaction between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations, in particular, the UN and its structural divisions, the parties stressed the commitment of both parties to the search for effective multilateral mechanisms to maintain stability, economic growth and security in the region and the world.
The delegations also discussed further steps to expand bilateral cooperation in such spheres as transport, logistics, energy sector, chemical industry, information security. Views were also exchanged concerning cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Speaking about interaction in the region, the parties stressed the unity in the desire to help brotherly Afghanistan to achieve peace, harmony and stability as soon as possible. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan continue to provide comprehensive economic and humanitarian support to Afghanistan, where the humanitarian crisis hit high after the US froze its $10 billion assets.
