Russia, Pakistan’s top leaders discuss Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, September 14 (AsiaFreePress): Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran on Tuesday discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

In a statement, issued from Prime Minister House, said PM Imran Khan received a telephone call from President Putin during which the two leaders reviewed the situation in Afghanistan and pledged to enhance the bilateral cooperation and collaboration in the regional organizations.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized the need to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan as an economic crisis looms over Afghanistan. He further said that the peace and stability in Afghanistan are imperative and the world should not abandon Afghanistan in such testing times.
There must be close coordination between Pakistan and Russia over the developments taking place in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister added.
Prime Minister Khan reaffirmed the Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen and enhance the bilateral relationship. He accentuated that strengthening of trade, investments, and energy cooperation were the ‘cornerstones of engagement’ with Russia.
Pakistan Government is determined for the early accomplishment of the Pakistan stream Gas Project, the PM assured.
The Pakistan-Russia relations have depicted an ascension with the growing mutual trust and confluence of opinions on various regional as well as international matters and bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders acceded to be in close contact in future.
