China-Pakistan Friendship Square, the first of its kind in China, was inaugurated in Wuhan, Hubei province on Tuesday, reported state-run media.
The ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, and officials from Hubei Province and Wuhan City.
While speaking on occasion, Ambassador Haque said,” China-Pakistan Friendship Square reflects the great affinity and solidarity, deep love, trust and respect between our two countries and peoples.”
Haque went on to say that Pakistan plans to open a China-Pakistan Friendship Square in Karachi soon in response to this initiative.
It was reported by China Economic Net (CEN) that Sindh province in Pakistan and Hubei province in China would sign agreements to establish sister province and city relations with Karachi and Wuhan, as well as Kahuta Punjab in Pakistan and Yiling district in Hubei province, respectively.
“It is unprecedented to sign so many sister cities agreement and memorandum of understanding in various fields in one day,” the ambassador added.
In April 2021, Ambassador Haque met with Hubei Province Chief Ying Yong. Agriculture, economy, trade, education, and science and technology are among the fields in which the two countries have committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The purpose of this trip is to put the cooperation into action. It also marks the 70th anniversary of China and Pakistan establishing diplomatic ties.
