PIA spokesman says it’s not possible to operate flights in the previous fare because of insurance premium

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (Asia Free Press): Pakistan International Airline (PIA) on Thursday announced to suspend its operation to Kabul after the Taliban government warning to cut airfare.

In a statement, the state-run airline spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan said that PIA had run its flights service purely on humanitarian ground and is now not able to continue it.

“The decision to keep flying into Kabul was taken on purely humanitarian grounds, & on the strong insistence of friendly organizations,” PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan.

“Given the fact that the insurance premium on these flights are so high that it is simply impossible to operate,” he added.

He added that it’s not possible to operate flight operations in previous airfare.

The announcement came after the Afghan Taliban government-issued warning to PIA and Afghanistan’s private airline “Kam air” to reduce their airfare otherwise face for action.

“Pakistan airline PIA and Kam Air have been informed to adjust ticket prices for flights between Kabul and Islamabad as before the August 15 schedule. Otherwise, we will block their service from Kabul,” the Taliban transport ministry said in a statement.
