SRINAGAR, Dec 4 (Asia Free Press): In Indian administered Kashmir, International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu Kashmir (IFJHR-JK) Saturday expressed concern over the detention of female prisoners in various jails in Kashmir and India including the notorious Tihar Jail and demanded their immediate release.
In a statement in Srinagar, Chairman IFJHR-JK, Muhammad Ahsan Unto, deplored that the Indian government was not releasing the unlawfully detained women Hurriyat leaders and activists including Asiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen despite the fact that they are suffering from various serious ailments and have been denied even the basic amenities including healthcare in the prisons.
Untoo, said that the Indian authorities have shamelessly detained even the Kashmiri women under fictitious charges. The jailed women include Asiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen, Fahmeeda Sofi, Hina Bashir Beg, Seeba Hidayatullah, Asiya Bano, Rakseem Akhtar, Insha Jan, Tabassum Maqbool and Saima Akhter.
He further said that the Human Rights defenders should take note of this grave issue and impress upon Indian authorities to release these prisoners.
Since the illegal annexation of the disputed territory by the Indian government, the Indian state has waged a war against Kashmiri women, youth, students and children. India is adamant and continues detaining people at will without any accountability, he added.
