ISLAMABAD, Dec 16, (Asia Free Press): President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi said we would keep providing all-out major assistance to Afghanistan to develop its education sector, according to local media.

Talking to Afghan Minister for Higher Education Abdul Baqi Haqqani in Islamabad, he urged the international community to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan as it is passing through a challenging phase.

“Allama Iqbal Open University and Virtual University of Pakistan would assist Afghan universities in their digital transformation and provide online education to their students,” President Alvi further claimed.

Meanwhile, a five-member Afghan delegation led by Minister of Higher Education Afghanistan Mr. Abdul Baqi Haqqani also met with Pakistan’s Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood, according to Pakistani Media.

Shafqat Mehmood said Pakistan would continue its support to the current Taliban-led Afghan government to develop the war-torn neighbouring country.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly emphasized that we would support the present Afghan government in the development of Afghanistan in every possible way”, he said.

Shafqat Mahmood further added, “the number of higher education scholarships for Afghan students have been increased to 4500”.

The Afghan Minister for Higher Education thanked Pakistan for its role by saying Afghanistan needs Pakistan’s support at every step in the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan, according to Radio Pakistan.
