BEIJING, January 12, (Asia Free Press): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met and discussed practical cooperation with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf in Wuxi, east China’s Jiangsu Province, Xinhua reported.
During the meeting, Wang said that China and the GCC have consolidated their political mutual trust and deepened practical cooperation in recent years. China appreciates the GCC’s understanding of and support for China’s propositions on issues concerning China’s core interests and major concerns. China also firmly supports GCC countries in safeguarding their national independence, security, stability, and integrity.
China will continue to oppose any country’s interference in the internal affairs of GCC countries under the pretext of “human rights”, Wang warned while opposing linking terrorism with any particular religion or ethnic group.
Wang further said that both sides are fundamental forces for stability and durable peace in the region by adding that it is high time for both sides to work together to play a more positive role in promoting regional peace and stability and world peace and development.
In his turn, Nayef said that China is an important strategic partner and the largest trading partner of the GCC countries, and the two sides enjoy a high level of mutual trust.
The GCC greatly appreciates China’s significant influence and positive role in international and regional affairs, and has high expectations for the future of bilateral relations, says Nayef.
The two sides agreed that the conditions for China and the GCC to establish a strategic partnership are ripe, and they will accelerate this process. They will also work together to formulate and sign an action plan for strategic dialogue in three years.
Nowadays, the Secretary-General of GCC Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf was on his official foreign trip to enhance GCC’s relations with friendly countries. Before reaching China, the dignitary also paid his two-day visit to Pakistan and met top Pakistani dignitaries in Islamabad.
