KABUL(BNA): Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met today with Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation at his office.

According to a statement issued by Mullah Hamdullah Fathrat, the Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Ambassador Zhao Xing underscored that the current conditions in Afghanistan are favorable for economic and trade initiatives. He further emphasized the ongoing expansion of bilateral cooperation in various sectors between Afghanistan and China.

Ambassador Zhao Xing highlighted that Afghanistan’s export levels to China have shown significant growth, accounting for 11.5% of trade this year. He expressed optimism that this figure would rise to 25% in the coming year.

Additionally, the Ambassador announced that from December onwards, the Chinese government will waive taxes on Afghan exports, a measure expected to significantly enhance the volume of Afghan products entering the Chinese market and create additional employment opportunities for Afghan citizens.

The Chinese Ambassador also discussed plans to establish a new economic corridor with Afghanistan through Tajikistan, with trilateral talks between Afghanistan, China, and Tajikistan planned in this regard. Moreover, he noted that efforts are currently underway to operationalize the Wakhan Corridor, which will serve as a critical link for economic exchanges between the two nations.

In response, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir expressed his gratitude for China’s decision to waive taxes on Afghan exports, describing the move as one that will provide a substantial boost to Afghan businesses and contribute to the country’s economic recovery. He also urged other neighboring countries to adopt similar supportive measures.

Mawlawi Kabir further highlighted the strategic importance of the Wakhan Corridor, stating that once operational, it will bring significant advancements in trade and economic activities between Afghanistan and China, fostering stronger bilateral relations.
