BALKH (BNA) The Governor of Balkh province Hajji Mohammad Yousuf Wafa met with the Head of the UNHCR’s Representative to Afghanistan, Leonard Zulu, and his accompanying delegations in his office.
While sharing information about implemented, in progress projects and future plans of the UN agencies in the country’s northern zone with Governor Wafa, Leonard Zulu said that the agency was fully committed to work in Afghanistan, according to the statement.
“The work of the UNHCR has been in progress in the field of cash assistance, construction of houses, health and education institutions in the northern zone of Afghanistan,” the statement quoted the Head of UNHCR in the northern region of the country Lachine Mansowa as saying.
Welcoming them, the Governor Wafa commended the cooperation of the UNHCR with the country in various sectors, the statement said.
The statement was quoting the governor Wafa as saying that after the resumption of power by the Islamic Emirate countrywide sure security has been ensured and the UN agencies without linking the humanitarian aids to the political issues should increase and continue their assistance to Afghanistan.
Assuring them with any necessary cooperation and coordination, Wafa also asked the UN agencies to cooperate with the relevant organs in the construction of roads, health facilities, education centers, and dams in the remote areas and the districts of the province, the statement added.
