BEIJING, Dec 3, (AFP) Chinese expert called the growing engagement between Pakistan and Russia, as an important development for regional peace.
In his recent article Cheng Xizhong, who is political analyst and former Chinese Defense Attache in South Asian countries, said that Islamabad playing very active role in current situation in Afghanistan, according to state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
“Pakistan role is an very important as they took all the neighbouring countries onboard to jointly work and bringing lasting peace in Afghanistan,” he wrote.
He added that Pakistan and Russia are an important countries and the growing ties between both countries are favourable to the respective interests of Islamabad and Moscow.
Pakistan National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf, who is in Moscow, held in-depth meeting with his Russian counterpart on Wednesday and also discussed the current situation in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the two top security officials also discussed matters of mutual interest including cooperation in economic, energy, defense, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and information and cyber security came under full discussion.
In recent years, with the approach of international and regional powers, Pakistan and Russia have made efforts to expand all-round cooperation, especially in the field of security and defense, including joint military exercises and weapons and equipment cooperation.
in view of the evil intentions and non-cooperative attitude of the regional power, the approach of Pakistan and Russia is in line with the aims of the Shanghai Co-operation Organization (SCO) and the common needs of the two countries to jointly curb terrorist forces and seek regional peace,” Cheng Xizhong viewed.
