PYONGYANG, Oct 1 (Asia Free Press): North Korea test fired a new type anti-aircraft missile amid growing tension in the region, state-run media said on Friday.
The Academy of Defence Science of the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,North Korea official name] test-fired an anti-aircraft missile newly developed by it on September 30, Korean Central News Agency reported.
The new missile test aimed was to confirm the practicality of operation of the launcher, radar, and all-purpose battle command vehicle as well as the comprehensive combat performance of the missile, its added.
Pak Jong Chon, a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, watched the test launch with leading officials in the sector of national defense scientific research.
“The overall test is of practical significance in studying and developing various prospective anti-aircraft missile systems,” said the Academy of Defence Science.
“The remarkable ‘combat performance’ of the new-type anti-aircraft missile that has brought about a substantial increase in the rapid responsiveness and guidance accuracy of the missile control system as well as the distance of downing air targets with the introduction of new key technologies like a ‘twin-rudder control technology’ and ‘double-impulse flight engine’ has been verified,” its added.
The latest missile lunch came just three-day after when North Korea tested its a newly developed hypersonic missile just week after test-firing two short-range ballistic missiles into east sea.
Last month both Korean countries tested ballistic missile that further tensed the relations between two neighbours.
On Wednesday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un said that he is willing to restore communication line with South Korea as first step toward bringing lasting peace in the region.
Tension in Korean peninsula has been raised since August after US and South Korea hold joint military exercises despite North opposition.
