ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (Asia Free Press): A solider of Pakistan army on Tuesday killed in a terrorist attack carried out from Iranian territory on Pak-Iran border in southwestern Balochistan province, official said.

Terrorists targeted a border security post of the Frontier Corps from Iranian territory with Small Arms fire in general area Chukab, Balochistan, said Pakistan army in a statement.

“Due to fire, Sepoy Maqbool Shah of Frontier Corps embraced shahadat while another soldier was injured,” the military said.

Iranian authorities concerned have been informed about the incident, its added

The latest attack came after Pakistani officials Saturday claimed that the suicide bombing which was carried out last month on Chinese nationals in Gawadar, southwestern Balochistan, was planned in Iran.

In a statement, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan, said they arrested the facilitators who brought the bomber and facilitated him.

“An arrested terrorist disclosed that Rasool Bux, a resident of Sheeran Chahbahar area of Iran, is the mastermind of the attack,” the CTD said.
“The arrested terrorist, Arif son of Dur Muhammad alias Durra, disclosed that his brother Ahmed had transported the suicide bomber from Ramin area of Iran. He [Arif] had received the suicide bomber on his arrival on August 11 and provided a place for him to stay near [the] Customs Warehouse in Gwadar,” the CTD added.

Balochistan, which makes up 42% of Pakistan, is a key route to the $64 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which aims to connect China’s strategically important northwestern Xinxiang province to the Pakistani port of Gwadar through a network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport cargo, oil, and gas.

The economic corridor will not only provide China cheaper access to Africa and the Middle East but will also earn Pakistan billions of dollars for providing transit facilities to the world’s second-largest economy.
