KABUL(BNA): More than 490 Afghan migrant families have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran. The UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that a total of 497 families, comprising 2,232 individuals, were forcibly repatriated through various transit points, including Torkham in Nangarhar, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, and Islam Qala in Nimroz.
The UNHCR has taken measures to assist these returning families, providing essential services through the Registration, Stabilization, and Reception Committees. These services include transportation, financial support, health services, and telecommunications.
Upon arrival, migrants underwent registration and biometric verification. Subsequently, they received cash assistance and SIM cards to facilitate their reintegration into Afghan society.
The commission is also coordinating efforts to ensure the safe transfer of these families to their respective provinces.
