Torkham Border Reopens After Four-Day Closure, Easing Trade and Travel

KABUL(BNA): Local officials in Nangarhar have announced that the Torkham border crossing reopened this morning after being closed for four days.

The closure was initially triggered by a conflict between Afghan forces and the opposing side over the construction of a security post in the Ghoorkai area of Torkham.

The reopening of the Torkham gate is a relief for many, as such closures, which occur from time to time, have a considerable impact on travelers and traders alike, causing disruptions and financial losses.

The reopening is expected to ease the movement of goods and people, restoring normalcy to this vital transit route.
