New Delhi: In a move deemed discriminatory, Mewar University in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh has suspended 35 Kashmiri students for participating in a protest against the university’s discriminatory policies.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the students, who were demonstrating were suspended by the Indian authorities in the Bhartiya Janata Party-ruled state. This incident has raised concerns about the treatment of Kashmiri students in Indian universities.
The university’s decision has sparked outrage, highlighting the tensions between Kashmiri students and Indian authorities.
The students have been raising their concerns about the lack of accreditation from the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC), which jeopardises the academic futures of 45 Kashmiri students enrolled in the programme.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Associations while condemning the suspensions of the students have expressed deep concern over the university’s harsh stance, adding that the University authorities on orders of BJP govt is creating fear and snatching rights and justice of Kashmiris students studying the Indian universities.
The IIOJK students association urged the authorities to protect the academic futures of these students.
