Kabul: International reactions is pouring in after the deadly earthquake in Afghanistan that left over 1000 people dead and more that 1400 injured. Islamic Emirate has urged world community to come forward to help the struggling nation.
According to USGS, the epicenter of the deadly quake that hit the four districts of Paktika province in middle of night, was 44km from Khost city, and was measured 6.1 on the richter scale.
The Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in his message said that he is “deeply grieved to learn about the earthquake in Afghanistan, resulting in loss of innocent lives. Relevant authorities working to support Afghanistan in this time of need.”
Pope Francis prayers, were quoted by the Vatican news, for those who have lost their lives in the earthquake in Afghanistan.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed shock and sorrow ‘by the terrible earthquake in Afghanistan’
“My thoughts are with the victims’ families. Together with our intl partners, we will provide humanitarian aid wherever we can.”
In its message Sam Mort, Chief of Communication, Advocacy and Civic Engagement at UNICEF said: “How much more can the people of Afghanistan take? On top of so much hardship already, another devastating earthquake claimed the lives of hundreds of people. Condolences to those who are mourning the loss of loved ones.”
Speaking at a press conference, the deputy Minister of State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management, Mawlawi Sharafuddin Muslim, said that the Islamic Emirate will pay 100,000 Afs for the families of those who were killed in the earthquake and 50,000 will be paid to families of those injured.
“We call on the international community as it is very difficult for every country to overcome such incidents alone by itself,” he said.
