Srinagar, March 12 (AsiaFreePress): Indian forces have killed four rebels in Indian Administered Kashmir in multiple military operations launched overnight.
A spokesperson for the local police told Asia Free Press that the joint teams of Indian Army, paramilitary forces and local police launched at least five military operations in three districts of the disputed region including in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and north Kashmir’s Handwara districts.
Two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed in the Chewaklan area of Pulwama, police said. One of them has been identified as commander Kamaal Bhai, a Pakistani resident who was active since 2018.
Another militant of The Resistance Front was killed in the Serch area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal. One militant was killed in Nechama, Rajwar area of Handwara.
Vijay Kumar, inspector general of police, Kashmir, said that forces launched joint operations at four to five locations on Friday night which led to the killing of two JeM militants and two TRF militants.
The forces have also caught one militant alive. The military operations have come in the backdrop of the killing of a sarpanch in the Kulgam district on Friday. Police said militants allegedly fired upon Shabir Ahmad Mir, a sarpanch, near his residence in Adoura at around 8.50pm. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
