{"id":8556,"date":"2024-08-29T12:49:09","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T07:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=8556"},"modified":"2024-08-29T12:49:11","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T07:49:11","slug":"5-4-magnitude-earthquake-jolts-parts-of-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en_gb\/asia\/5-4-magnitude-earthquake-jolts-parts-of-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"5.4 magnitude earthquake jolts parts of Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 5.4-magnitude earthquake was felt in parts of Pakistan, mostly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The quake had a magnitude of 5.4 and occurred at 5:56am UTC (10:56am Pakistan time), the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/seismic.pmd.gov.pk\/\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The earthquake\u2019s epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan and it had a depth of 215 kilometres, the PMD website stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/earthquakes\/map\/?currentFeatureId=us6000nnfd&amp;extent=22.83695,48.07617&amp;extent=43.16512,94.04297\">United States Geological Survey<\/a>&nbsp;(USGS) stated the quake\u2019s epicentre was 28km west-southwest of Afghanistan\u2019s Ishkashim town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<em>Dawn News<\/em>, the tremors were felt across various cities of KP, including Mardan, Malakand, Hangu, Buner, Shangla, Dir and Charsadda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jolts were also felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore,&nbsp;<em>Dawn News<\/em>&nbsp;reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No loss of life has been reported as of yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In KP\u2019s Shangla district, Rescue 1122 staff was put on high alert after the tremors were felt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo emergency call has been received by the Rescue 1122 control room so far,\u201d the service in Shangla said in a statement.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 5.4-magnitude earthquake was felt in parts of Pakistan, mostly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday.
