KABUL(BNA): Three years ago, on this day, Afghanistan was liberated from 20 years of American occupation as the capital city of Kabul was conquered by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan\u2019s forces. The anniversary of this momentous occasion was celebrated across the country today, Wednesday 14 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released by the Islamic Emirate, they described August 14th as \u201can important and glorious day in the history of Afghanistan\u201d when the \u201cgreat aggressive forces of the time were defeated\u201d through the \u201cJihad, struggle, patience and perseverance of us Afghans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement went on to praise the sacrifices and jihadi efforts of the Mujahideen fighters who helped secure this victory, saying \u201cwe congratulate our faithful and mujahid brothers and honor their jihadi sacrifices and struggle in this cause.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Islamic Emirate reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the \u201cIslamic system\u201d that has been established in the country, which has brought \u201cpeace and security\u201d and provided \u201copportunity for the material and spiritual prosperity of our country.\u201d The Islamic Emirate called on all Afghans to be \u201cgrateful for this great blessing\u201d and to be \u201cready to protect and support it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In closing, the Emirate asked Allah to grant their leadership and officials \u201csuccess in this great responsibility\u201d and to \u201cprotect them from any deception and corruption\u201d as they work to implement Sharia law across Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This anniversary marks three years of Islamic Emirate rule in Afghanistan following their takeover in the summer of 2021 as American and coalition forces withdrew from the country after two decades of military presence. The Islamic Emirate\u2019s strict interpretation of Islamic law has drawn criticism from the international community, but they remain firmly in control of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
