{"id":606,"date":"2021-09-20T08:28:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T08:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=606"},"modified":"2021-11-26T15:09:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T10:09:29","slug":"us-journalist-thanks-pakistan-premier-for-saving-their-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en_gb\/world\/us-journalist-thanks-pakistan-premier-for-saving-their-lives\/","title":{"rendered":"US TV host praises Pakistan PM for journalists, American citizens evacuation from Kabul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Words cannot express their gratitude to Prime Minister Khan and the people of Pakistan, says Glenn Beck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISLAMABAD, September,20 (Asia Free Press): An American journalist and TV host Glenn Beck on Monday thanked Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for helped and save lives of many journalists and US citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement, Beck said, words cannot express their gratitude to Prime Minister Khan and the people of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the hour of desperate need I reached out in the hopes that some sort of leadership could be found to help us do the impossible,\u201d he said in series of tweets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The senior American commentator and writer said added that they had reached out to numerous leaders in political and civil society around the world and asked for help but no one helped them on a humanitarian basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome calls and requests received a simple yes or no, some went unanswered but we received an immediate response to our requests from Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan who then acted on his willingness to assist [us],\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCollectively, we transcended religious differences, political divides, national boundaries and local dynamics &#8211; it was about a humanitarian. effort aimed at saving innocent victims facing certain death if left behind in a war ravaged country where misunderstanding and suspicion take priority at present.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imran Khan took the lead to save innocent lives irrespective of politics, race, religion or culture, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Taliban swiftly takeover Kabul on August 15, most of the government leaders and officials including President Ashraf Ghani, the country military chief and other key officials fled away and left thousand including foreigner humanitarian workers and journalists behind in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Pakistan immediately decided to help foreigners including diplomats, journalists and UN agencies workers to safely evacuate them from Kabul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since August 15, Pakistan International Airline (PIA evacuated over 14,000 Americans, Europeans, Turkish and several other countries diplomats, journalists, citizens including Afghans who worked with these countries during last 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo other global leader that we have seen, took such an initiative to leverage his\/her position to save the innocent putting humanity before politics and showing how much the great faiths have in common on the bridge of compassion,\u201d the US journalists said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beck praised Khan and said \u201cPakistani premier quickly asked his people to intervene on our behalf and was able to make the difference between life and death for those on board the first three aircraft to leave Mazar e Sharif in Afghanistan with nearly a thousand civilians on board. MANY of them are Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite Pakistan huge efforts to arranged peace talks between Washington and Taliban last year in Doha and evacuated hundreds Americans and its western allies from Kabul, last week the Secretary of State accused Pakistan of having a \u201cmultiplicity of interests\u201d in Afghanistan and warned that it \u201cneeds to line up with a broad majority of the international community\u201d on the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said that Washington reassessing relations with Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reacting to Blinken remarks, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said the top American diplomat\u2019s words were \u201csurprising.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have noted that the comments were not in line with the close cooperation between Pakistan and the US,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis was surprising as Pakistan\u2019s positive role in the Afghan peace process, recent facilitation of the multinational evacuation effort from Afghanistan, and continued support for an inclusive political settlement in Afghanistan have been duly acknowledged, including most recently by the US State Department spokesperson in his briefing on Sept. 15.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the US journalists, who were rescued by Pakistan, thanked Islamabad for help and said they would not allow anyone to forget that moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEach of their lives are worth the time, energy, money, passion and love spent by so many people, organizations and the PM of Pakistan. Other media outlets may have their own agenda for criticizing him over the last few days, don\u2019t but he should be recognized for the lives he helped save this weekend,\u201d Glenn Beck<br>said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI sincerely thank him and pray he continues to help us work to to build a bridge with the common interest of protecting innocent, precious lives during this humanitarian effort. The United States should collectively recognise Pakistan&#8217;s assistance at this juncture.
