{"id":365,"date":"2021-09-11T19:20:19","date_gmt":"2021-09-11T19:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=365"},"modified":"2021-09-12T06:50:17","modified_gmt":"2021-09-12T06:50:17","slug":"spy-chiefs-of-regional-countries-meets-in-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en_gb\/security\/spy-chiefs-of-regional-countries-meets-in-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Intelligence chiefs of regional countries meets in Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sept 11 (AsiaFreePress): Intelligence chiefs of regional countries gathered in Islamabad to discuss the latest situation in Afghanistan, local media reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting hosted by Pakistan\u2019s premier intelligence agency ISI chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, that was attended by spy chiefs from China, Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, local broadcaster ARY News reported<br>The meeting discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan after Taliban took over Kabul on August 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The forum agreed on intelligence sharing to ensure peace and stability in the region , according to report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sept. 4, , ISI chief visited Kabul and met Taliban leaders including Hezb-e-Islami Chief Gulbuddin Hekmatyar to discussed the situation in the aftermath of a Taliban takeover.<br>The spy chiefs meeting held after last week online summit of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan\u2019s neighbouring countries that was chaired by Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring the meeting, views were exchanged on the evolving situation in Afghanistan for a regional approach,\u201d the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement after the meeting, that was attended virtually by China, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan top diplomats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beijing\u2019s top diplomat Wang Yi urged the neighboring states to exert a more \u201cpositive\u201d influence, saying that Afghanistan stands at the crossroads of history, broadcaster China Global Television Network (CGTN) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interim nature of the Taliban government, he observed, shows that the Afghanistan\u2019s future is still faced with \u201cuncertainties.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noting that the situation in Afghanistan is moving from \u201cchaos to governance,\u201d Wang urged the neighbors to seize the opportunity, boost communication and coordination, focus on common concerns, and exert more positive influence while respecting Kabul\u2019s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, the report said.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sept 11 (AsiaFreePress): Intelligence chiefs of regional countries gathered in Islamabad to discuss the latest situation in Afghanistan, local media reported on Saturday.
