Islamabad, Nov 8, (Asia Free Press): The Senate of Pakistan passed a unanimous resolution on Monday honouring the late Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his lifelong struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination for Kashmiri people against Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan\u2019s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi moved the resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian Occupation Forces’ rage, tyranny, and barbarism were reflected in the unceremonial burial of the great leader, it claimed. Further, urging the international community to take notice of India’s callous and inhumane handling of this situation, which violates all civil and human rights norms in the occupied valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian government has been enjoined by Pakistan’s Senate to stop harassing Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s family members and drop the charges that have been brought up against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unrestricted access for United Nations observers, international human rights organisations, and international media into the Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir (IOJK) was also demanded of the Indian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Immediate release of the detained Kashmiri political leaders and youth in arbitrary detention in jails was also sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Senate demanded that Indian government must remove all restrictions on media, internet, mobile communications, and movement of people, and peaceful assembly from IOJK immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Illegal demographic changes in the occupied territory were also denounced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution urged the Indian government to stop the killings of Kashmiri youth in fake encounters and cordon-and-search operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Senate demanded that, India must reverse and annul the illegal and unilateral actions taken on 5 August 2019, and permit the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination in conformity with relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
