BEIJING: China has introduced unilateral visa-free entry and mutual visa exemption agreements with 75 countries as part of its efforts to streamline visa rules and promote international exchange, an immigration official announced at a press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wang Zhizhong, head of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), also noted that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the number of countries eligible for visa-free transit to China has increased to 55, while the number of entry ports has expanded to 60 across 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the allowed stay period for visa-free transit has been extended to 240 hours, according to Wang, adding that all these measures have greatly facilitated travel for foreigners visiting China for tourism, business and other purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These optimized visa-free policies have also strengthened exchanges and interactions between Chinese citizens and people around the world, fostering closer ties and deeper friendship, Wang noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMany foreign visitors have gained a true and full understanding of China through their firsthand experiences,\u201d Wang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China\u2019s border inspection agencies have handled a total of 1.556 billion entries and exits by travelers, along with more than 98 million cross-border transport vehicles, including aircraft, ships, trains and automobiles, according to official data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChina is now among the countries with the most efficient port clearance systems in the world,\u201d Wang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wang also highlighted the NIA\u2019s efforts to improve policies and mechanisms for attracting global talent and expertise. The administration has been working to establish a comprehensive support system that covers entry visas, stay and residence permits, as well as other related services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
