{"id":6799,"date":"2023-09-05T20:09:54","date_gmt":"2023-09-05T15:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=6799"},"modified":"2023-09-05T20:09:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T15:09:56","slug":"new-thai-govt-sworn-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en\/news\/new-thai-govt-sworn-in\/","title":{"rendered":"New Thai govt sworn in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thailand&#8217;s new Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and his Cabinet were sworn in on Tuesday, nearly four months after elections were held in the Southeast Asian country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Premier Thavisin and his 33-member Cabinet took their oaths of office before King Maha Vajiralongkorn at a ceremony held at the Royal Palace in the capital Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local broadcaster Thai PBS World posted a photo of Thavisin and his cabinet members before proceeding to the palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the swearing-in ceremony, the new prime minister said that he would follow the king\u2019s advice and work tirelessly for the sake of the country and the people, according to the broadcaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, the king endorsed the Cabinet, paving the way to end months of political uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Thavisin was elected the country\u2019s new prime minister by parliament, and later he received a formal endorsement letter to be appointed premier by the country&#8217;s king.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thavisin, who was nominated by Pheu Thai leader Chonlanan Srikaew, will now lead an 11-party coalition government<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thailand&#8217;s new Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and his Cabinet were sworn in on Tuesday, nearly four months after elections were held in the Southeast Asian country.
