{"id":674,"date":"2021-09-21T08:26:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-21T08:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=674"},"modified":"2021-09-21T08:26:51","modified_gmt":"2021-09-21T08:26:51","slug":"pakistans-exports-to-china-expected-to-double-ambassador-haque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en\/asia\/paksitan\/pakistans-exports-to-china-expected-to-double-ambassador-haque\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan\u2019s exports to China expected to double: Ambassador Haque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING, September 21 (APP): Pakistan\u2019s exports to China are expected to double in the next two to three years as a result of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement and other measures taken by the two governments to enhance bilateral trade, said Pakistan ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring the first six months, Pakistan\u2019s exports to China surged by more than 80 percent despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected global trade and travel,\u201d he said in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce indicated that during the first half of this year, Pakistan\u2019s exports to China hit $1.73 billion, up 83 percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>During the same period, bilateral trade increased to $12.6 billion, up 63 percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Ambassador Haque attributed the momentum to the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement, which was signed in 2019, and also to China\u2019s incentive to boost imports including the China International Import Expo and Pakistan\u2019s six pavilions at leading trade expos in China, Pakistan\u2019s active presence on China\u2019s leading e-commerce portals, and China\u2019s booming economic zones in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>As part of the second phase of the free-trade agreement, China, which is Pakistan\u2019s largest trade partner, removed tariffs on more than 300 Pakistani commodities, including agricultural products and textiles, bringing the total number tariff-free goods to 1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u201cChina has a particular system to boost imports, which is unique in the world, such as its China International Import Expo; and our country has set up online shops on China\u2019s e-commerce platforms like Alibaba, Taobao and JD, all new impetus for us to hold great confidence in exports,\u201d the ambassador noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In addition, he lauded the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has entered its second phase of quality development this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u201cThe CPEC has transformed Pakistan\u2019s landscape and in particular, improved infrastructure for us, and as a result it will benefit China, Pakistan and the region,\u201d\u009d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The latest developments include construction of the western branch of the CPEC, which began this year and is expected to be completed in the next three years.
