{"id":4522,"date":"2022-06-28T10:50:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-28T05:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=4522"},"modified":"2022-06-28T09:49:20","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T04:49:20","slug":"india-blocked-pakistans-participation-in-china-hosted-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en\/asia\/paksitan\/india-blocked-pakistans-participation-in-china-hosted-event\/","title":{"rendered":"India blocked Pakistan\u2019s participation in China-hosted event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan\u2019s claimed that it\u2019s absence from the \u2018High-level Dialogue on Global Develop\u00adment\u2019 on the sidelines of BRICS summit on Friday was triggered by India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreign Office, while clarifying the situation on Monday, said: \u201cRegrettably one member blocked Pakistan\u2019s participation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The FO did not name any country, but a diplomatic source on the background confirmed that it was India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the five members of BRICS \u2014 Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa \u2014 the event held in a virtual format was participated by Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Senegal, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Malaysia and Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, it was surprising for many that Beijing succumbed to Indian pressure for blocking India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FO spokesman Asim Iftikhar said China had engaged with Pakistan on this issue prior to the BRICS meetings.
