{"id":3992,"date":"2022-03-07T16:10:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T11:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=3992"},"modified":"2022-03-07T19:42:15","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T14:42:15","slug":"pm-imran-khan-slams-eus-double-standards-questions-its-approach-on-kashmir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en\/world\/pm-imran-khan-slams-eus-double-standards-questions-its-approach-on-kashmir\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan PM Imran Khan Slams EU\u2019s Double Standards, Questions Its Approach on Kashmir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>\u201cHas anyone of you severed trade relations with India or objected to its unlawful actions,\u201d Mr Khan asked, adding, \u201care we slaves and act according to your wishes\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Srinagar, March 7 (AsiaFreePress):\u00a0<\/strong>Lashing out at the European Union ambassadors\u2019 &#8216;undiplomatic&#8217; statement wanting Pakistan to condemn Russia for Ukraine invasion, the country\u2019s premier Imran Khan asked the bloc whether it wrote such a letter to India which violated UN Security Council resolutions and revoked the autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHave you ever acknowledged Pakistan\u2019s support in war against terror which claimed 80,000 lives and caused other collateral damage,\u201d he said while addressing a public meeting in Mailsi town of Vehari district on Sunday.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHas anyone of you severed trade relations with India or objected to its unlawful actions,\u201d Mr Khan asked, adding, \u201care we slaves and act according to your wishes\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last week\u2019s press release by ambassadors of 23 countries had asked Pakistan \u201cto join them in condemning Russia\u2019s actions [in Ukraine] and to voice support for upholding the UN Charter and the founding principles of international law\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Objecting to that press release, the Foreign Office had said: \u201cWe took note of that and in a subsequent meeting with a group of ambassadors, we expressed our concern about that because it was not the way diplomacy should be practised\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a non-binding resolution, demanding the immediate withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine. Out of five South Asian nations, only Nepal voted for the resolution while Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka decided to abstain.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador Munir Akram had also asserted in the UN that Islamabad supported all efforts to restore peace in Ukraine. \u201cWe are advocating a ceasefire and negotiations. If we had joined the Ukraine resolution, we would have no political space for diplomacy between the two sides,\u201d he had asserted.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prime minister said Pakistan did not want any confrontation with any country and wanted to have good relations with all \u2014 Russia, the US, China and Europe. \u201cIslamabad is not in any camp.
