BEIJING, Oct 9, (Asia Free Press): China on Friday warned US to stop arms sales and military ties with Taiwan, abide by one-China principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During routine press briefing, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that one-China principle is the foundation of China-US relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China and the US established diplomatic relations on the premise of the three principles, namely, the US should sever “diplomatic relations” and abrogate the “mutual defense treaty” with the Taiwan authorities and withdraw U.S. military forces from Taiwan,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US explicitly pledges in the China-US Joint Communiqu\u00e9 on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations that it will “maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the Washington to stop arms sales to and military ties with Taiwan to avoid seriously damaging China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChina will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,\u201d he maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding to a question regarding the CIA announcement to form a new China-focused unit to counter alleged security threats from Beijing, Zhao Lijian said it is a typical symptom of the Cold War mentality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRelevant US agency should view China’s development and China-US relations in an objective and rational light and stop doing things detrimental to bilateral mutual trust and cooperation and China’s sovereignty, security and development interests.?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China expresses concern over US nuclear submarine accident<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman also expressed grave concern over the US Navy nuclear-powered submarine USS Connecticut incident in the waters of the Indo-Pacific region, and said the US should clarify it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are gravely concerned about the incident. As the party involved, the US should clarify in specific details what happened, including the exact location of the incident, the US side’s navigation intention, the details of the incident, the object the submarine struck, whether the collision caused a nuclear leak or damaged local marine environment, etc,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe US has long been making trouble in the South China Sea in the name of “freedom of navigation”, which poses a grave threat and major risks for regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed grave concerns over concealing the truth about the incident by the US and Washington deliberately stalled and concealed the specifics of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also warned for arms race in the Asia-Pacific region after US, UK deal with Australia to provide them nuclear submarines and said it could create nuclear proliferation risks<\/p>\n\n\n\n
